Technology Students Association

Students enrolled in the Information Technology Pathway are encouraged to join the Technology Student Association (TSA).  Through their involvement, they engage in projects that are eligible for submission to the district and state technology fairs in addition to TSA State Competition. South Atlanta's Robotics team competed in TSA during the 2017-18 and 2018-19 school years. Although they did not place, it marked the first time the school entered in the category.

IT Partnerships

Teacher Support: Microsoft Teals and Georgia Tech Constellations

Microsoft TEALS and Georgia Tech Constellations provide additional support to the Information Technology instructor and students in the pathway.

  • Microsoft TEALS helps teachers learn to teach Computer Science by pairing them with industry volunteers and a proven curriculum.

  • Georgia Tech Constellations' Computing Equity Project matches fellows with school level instructors to provide teaching assistance and professional development.

Hope For Youth, Inc.

Hope for Youth, Inc. (HYPE) is a nonprofit organization that encourages and empowers girls of color to pursue careers and opportunities in computing and technology. HYPE has partnered with us in the following ways:

  • Co-facilitated parallel instruction with the IT instructor which allowed for students identifying as female to learn technology in a space specifically tailored for their identified gender.

  • Provided field experience opportunities in which our girls of color have the opportunity to be exposed to careers in technology. Some experiences are large group and some are smaller and therefore more intimate.

Previous Events
